Wikipedia explains that the 'The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus) is a small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae.' According the the RSPB the siskin 'is a small, lively finch, smaller than a Greenfinch. It has a distinctly forked tail and a narrow bill'.  
As can be seen from the photos above, the male is more vibrant than the female.  The male has the strong yellow body with the black cap and bib.  The female is more muted in colouring.
